Recent news includes a sarin gas attack that occurred on April 4th, 2017 in the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun. Many western leaders are blaming the Syrian government President Bashar al-Assad for the attack that caused at least 87 people to die. The victims consisted of a significant amount of children amongst the people who suffered from meiosis, spasms, paralysis, choking, and respiratory failure after being exposed to the airborne chemical agent that had been dropped via an airstrike right before 07:00 AM. Another airstrike hit one of the hospitals treating victims just a few hours later. It is an unfortunate and heartbreaking reality that children are particularly susceptible to nerve agents, specifically the G-series type such as sarin. Test results have come backs showing that sarin gas or a similar substance was undeniably used in the chemical weapons attack, according to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Political affairs over the attack are still unfolding, but so far the U.S. has intervened upon orders from President Trump with the launching of 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles at the airbase of the warplanes that executed the chemical attacks. This has not resonated well with Assad or Russia (Assad's ally), so we shall have to wait and see how the convoluted political action plays out and what it will translate to.
